Oskar A. Ontanyon, 77, of Douglas, Arizona, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026. He was

born on July 1, 1949, in Santander, Spain, to Pedro and Amparo Hontañón, alongside his

siblings.

Growing up in Spain, Oskar developed an especially close relationship with his grandmother,

Amalia, whose wisdom he carried with him throughout his life and passed on her legacy to his

own children and grandchildren.

Oskar's life was one of deep faith and purpose. In his early years, he traveled to France and

Egypt before devoting himself to spreading the word of Jesus, a calling that eventually led him

to California. There, he met Rosalva Ramos, and the two were married on December 9, 1982.

Oskar later moved to Chicago, where he built a career as an entrepreneur. In time, his calling

drew him back to the Word of God, and he became a pastor in the United Methodist Church. He

served congregations in Caliente, Nevada; Willcox, Arizona; and Douglas, Arizona.

He was known for his sense of humor, his kindness, and his deep love for animals, especially

his devoted canine companions, Athena, Ringo, and Charlie. Outside of his ministry, he loved

reading, writing, photography and spending time in nature.

Those who knew Oskar will remember him for his warmth, his humor, and the gentle kindness

he brought to everyone he met. He loved traveling with his family, and he loved talking with and

listening to people, guiding them with wisdom and the Word of God. He hosted Bible studies

and grief support meetings, helping those he met find inner peace.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalva; his children, Elizabeth, Andre(Carly), and Kattalin; his

grandchildren, Elena(Oscar), Benjamin, Andrea, D'Artagnan, D'Angelo, Maya, Malia, Mateo,

Marcelo, Tristan, and Sadie; his great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Abraham; and his siblings,

Pedro, Mari Luz, and Marian and many nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Javier, and his siblings, Jose Antonio, Javier, and

Santiago.

A celebration of life will be held in Coachella, California, at a later date.

Oskar will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
