In loving memory of one James Allen Thursby,
James Allen Thursby, 54, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on June
1, 2026, at TMC Hospice "Peppi's House". A viewing will be held at the Alex
Espinosa Funeral Home on June 18, 2026, church services will be held on
June 19, 2026, at First Baptist Church, followed by a burial at the Southern
Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Sierra Vista, Arizona. A celebration of
life event will be held in Sierra Vista, Arizona.
Born in Phoenix, Arizona, on July 14, 1971, James, nicknamed "Jimmy", grew up
in the small town of Bisbee, Arizona. After graduating from Bisbee High School
in 1989, Jimmy moved around before settling in Tucson, Arizona, where he
enlisted in the United States Navy in 1992. He served 20 years as a Navy
Seabee (U.S. Naval Construction Force) with a tour in both Iraq and
Afghanistan, with an honorable discharge in 2012. During his time as a
reservist in the Navy, Jimmy started a long and storied career with Law
Enforcement starting 1993 with the Arizona Department of Corrections,
Federal Bureau of Prisons, and the United States Marshals Service totalling 32
years of government service before retiring in 2025.
During his lifetime Jimmy enjoyed a number of activities both quiet and loud,
from the calm serenity of camping, fishing, and hiking, to the excitement of
concerts, travel, and family celebrations. Jimmy strengthened family bonds
through his organization and participation in many family events and outings
with his sons, nieces, and nephews. He enjoyed reading and watching many
westerns particularly from the works of Louis L'Amour and performances by
Clint Eastwood.
In his legacy, Jimmy is survived by his wife, Linda, and three sons, Dylan, Tyler,
and Jaden, along with his many beloved pets. He will be remembered as a
loving father, with an unwavering kindness, a fighting spirit, and a dedication to
his family. His legacy lives on through the love he gave so freely and the
wisdom he shared with others.
Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing which will be held at the
Alex Espinosa Funeral Home (1094 AZ-92, Bisbee, AZ) on June 18, 2026 from
4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On June 19, 2026, church services will be held at the
First Baptist Church (1173 AZ-92, Bisbee, AZ) at 10:00 a.m. directly followed by
a burial at the Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery (1300 S Buffalo Soldier
Trail, Sierra Vista, AZ).
