Charles Marie

Charles Franklin Marie, 90, of Bisbee, AZ, died peacefully with his devoted son by his side on Friday, June 20, 2025.

Born March 7, 1935 in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Rue Leon Marie and Lucie Farmer Marie, his life was devoted to capturing the beauty he saw in the world.

As a youth, he served briefly in the Army before beginning his long career as a graphic designer and illustrator in the US civil service. He moved from Petersburg, VA, to the hills above Bisbee in 1985. He retired soon after, but became an active member of the Bisbee community as a dedicated volunteer, an avid hiker and explorer, and above all a passionate artist. Although he painted beautiful landscapes and still lifes, female nudes were always his preferred subjects.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his brother (James), son (Beau), and daughter (bonnie). He requested that no service be held, but to simply have his ashes divided between his beloved homes of Knoxville and Bisbee.
