Rafaela "Rafaelita" Arvizu Tarazon

Rafaela “Rafaelita” Arvizu Tarazón passed away peacefully at home in Tucson, Arizona in the company of her family on Tuesday, March 24th, 2020.

Rafaela was born in Bavispe, Sonora Mexico on October 24, 1930. Rafaela was preceded by her parents Miguel Tarazon from Bavispe, Sonora  and Delfina Durazo from Granados, Sonora . She will be reunited in heaven with her husband Joaquin Arvizu Escarsega , who passed away in 1985. She  was preceded by her sister Celina Arvizu Tarazón and her brother Costantino Tarazón Durazo. Rafaela immigrated to Douglas, Arizona in 1958 in pursuit of the American dream.  Rafaela made many sacrifices and worked hard to help her mother and family in Mexico and became a homemaker when she married in 1968. Rafaela then moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1990 in order that her only daughter Maria Auxiliadora Arvizu would attend the University of Arizona.  Years later she became an integral member of her daughter’ s family which included her daughter Maria Jakubicki, Son-in-law, Robert Jakubicki , and her most beloved twin granddaughters Teresa and Delfina Jakubicki.

 

Rafaela lived a long beautiful, simple and healthy lifestyle, she will always be remembered for her strong belief in God, never giving up in her faith no matter how difficult the situation.  Rafaela was always graceful and taught her family to be kind to everyone. Rafaela will be missed greatly by all her nieces, nephews, family, friends and most of all by her daughter and granddaughters.

 

A funeral Mass will take place at 10:30am this Saturday, April 4th, 2020 at  Immaculate Conception Church with Father Marco Basulto officiating.  Rafaela will be laid to rest next to her husband at Calvary Cemetery, Douglas, Arizona.
