Jose "Chefa" Luna

José “Chefa” Luna went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2019. He was born and raised in Douglas, AZ on September 11, 1927. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Phelps Dodge Mining Co. and the U.S. Forest Service. He served our country in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a very hard worker, did everything for his family, loved his country, and always had a smile on his face. He married the love of his life, Graciela Samaniego 44 years ago. José is preceded in death by both his parents, Manuela Ceceña and José Luna; his brothers, Alfonso “Seri” Luna, Gustavo “Tavo” Luna, Alfredo “Gato” Luna; his sisters, Aurora “Chocha” Ibarra, and Adelina “Connie” Bernal, and his son Luis. He is survived by his wife, Graciela and children; Alfredo (Ana), Stella, Martha, Lupita (Gilbert), Arcy (Bill), and numerous grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Ernesto (Tere), Nereyda, Ana Celia (Mauro), Kameka, Luis Jr., Adrian (Mayra), Oscar (Leslie), René, Vianey, Isabella, and Daniel, and his 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother and sister, Arnold “Fluter” Luna, and Lily “Leo” Pintor. Chefa was a car enthusiast, very intelligent, and did his crossword puzzles every morning. He loved driving, all things sweet, and spending time with his grandchildren. He left a legacy, was a selfless good-hearted man, and will be deeply missed by many. A Mass celebrating his life will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on November 19, 2019 at 10:30 AM. Military honors and family gathering to follow at the American Legion.
