Luis Carlos “Wees” Enriquez, 3
February 10, 2014 - June 7, 2017

BISBEE — Luis Carlos Enriquez (Wees), 3, passed away quietly in the arms of his loving parents, surrounded by his family on June 7, 2017.

Luis was born in Abilene, Texas on Feb. 10, 2014. He lived a lot of his days in hospitals because he was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. He was a fighter and fought until the end. Although he endured two open heart surgeries and spent much of his life in the hospital, Luis did not allow his condition to define his life. Instead, he remained a remarkably vibrant and spirited child who, despite his young age taught those around him that life (particularly those we meet along our journey), are meant to be rejoiced. It is hard to imagine that someone so young could touch so many lives, but Luis did. He endured without complaint, a plight that would have challenged the most poised among us. He was quick with a smile, curious of others and the world around him, and actively engaged all those who met him.

Even during the most frightening of times in the hospital, there were countless occasions on which Luis's beaming smile provided comfort to his loved ones and caregivers alike. Luis's strength of character was undeniable, and his perpetual happiness fueled optimism in others. Through his actions he taught us to be grateful for those we love and more forgiving of others. The breadth of his ability to forgive was witnessed through his innate understanding that we are all human. Medical treatments sometimes inflict pain and discomfort, yet Luis somehow understood this, forgiving all ill moods and discomfort with a smile.

His parents are thankful beyond words for the commitment, competence, compassion, and friendship that they and Luis experienced in the hospitals. They are also extremely thankful for the support of family and friends who cheered for Luis, sending him hope every step of the way.

Luis is survived by his parents Anissa Flores and Christopher Enriquez, a brother, Aiden, grandparents, Alma and Carlos Flores, Lisa Moultrie, great grandparents Rosa Bustamante, Luis Gomez, Margarita Enriquez, Barbara Jensen and Russell Moultrie, Great-great grandma, Rosario Hernandez, Auntie Myra Flores, Uncles Willie and Brenden Enriquez, and many uncles and aunts, cousins and friends.

A mass and celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 100 Quality Hill Road, Bisbee, Arizona. Respectfully we ask that those planning on attending services wear white or light colored clothing as we rejoice the life of Luis rather than mourn his return home.
